As a life-long athlete and avid fitness junky, fitness and nutrition have always been a staple in Michael’s life.  Variant Fit is grounded in a holistic approach to fitness blending mind and body, along with it’s core E.F.S. system, built on Efficiency, Functionality, and Self-Improvement.  Owner and Head Trainer Mike Michalski blends his unique skills and experience into a complete system of physical, psychological, philosophical, and emotional strength and empowerment.  


Being well aware of what discerning NYC clients are looking for when hiring a Personal Trainer, a connection to each client and the highest level of service were at the top of his list of priorities when he founded Variant Fit.  Many of Michael’s high-profile clients are leaders in their respective industries, and they’re looking for the utmost in professionalism and personal service.
Whether it’s in their homes, or in his private training studio space, bringing high-end gym quality service to each and every session is exactly what they need and expect. Michael’s relationship with his clients is the backbone of Variant Fit. He makes each client’s goals his goals, and ensures their comfort level, familiarity, and safety with every aspect of his training regimen.
In combination with that level of service is Variant’s E.F.S. system mentioned above. This training regimen that Michael personally developed will significantly increase an individual’s endurance and energy, flexibility and fat loss, and strength and stability, while also serving as a very efficient, functional, and self-improving program. E.F.S. works for all ages and fitness levels, and the results seen by his clients speak for themselves. In addition to Personal Training, Variant's group training classes offer a unique experience for those seeking the guidance, structure, and personal attention that make one-on-one training so valuable, all within the framework of a group class.

  • Policies

    All sessions, classes, and packages are paid for in advance. You will be charged for a training session when canceling within 24 hours of your appointment. You will be charged for a missed class when canceling within 12 hours of your scheduled class time. If you cancel outside of those windows, you will not be charged for a session/class and you may reschedule for another date/time. There is no charge when scheduling or canceling an Introductory Class or Consultation.

Private One-On-One Training

Private One-On-One Training

With Personal Training, everybody is different. That’s why there’s absolutely no “one size fits all” structure in place with VFit training. I’ll personally design an exercise program tailored specifically for your needs and goals, and help guide you every step of the way. I’ll combine a wide-array of exercise techniques and styles into your program, while also providing nutritional guidance, support, and custom workouts for those days I don’t see you. All training sessions will take place at my studio space at The Fit Factory in Chelsea. In-home sessions are available (depending on location) for an additional $15 per session. All sessions are 60 mins in length.


The “4×4” Small-Group Personal Training

The “4×4” Small-Group Personal Training

The “4×4” small-group classes were created to change the way you think about group fitness. We keep all of our class sizes small (4 people max) in these high-intensity, total-body focused, strength and conditioning classes. They’re more intimate and personalized than a large-group class, while still filled with as much energy, fun, and intensity as a large-group class. The best of both worlds. You can even book an entire class to yourself with other members of your friends/family. Detailed personal instruction and attention, great camaraderie, highly-efficient and effective, and a lot of fun. We consider these to be more like “training sessions” than “classes.” The “4×4” is offered for any fitness level. Whether you’re a novice or an advanced athlete, each class will be tailored to fit your specific abilities, goals, and needs.


The “Gauntlet” Group Training

The “Gauntlet” Group Training

This class is perfect for fitness junkies who love pushing their limits during their workouts. This is group training in overdrive!!! This nonstop 55-min class packs about as much punch into that timeframe as you can take. It’s a total-body, metcon-style workout filled with the perfect blend of strength training, plyometrics, and functional movements. The “Gauntlet” class is a highly-intense workout and intended for advanced fitness levels only. Classes are capped at 7 people.


“SHIFT” Large-Group Training

“SHIFT” Large-Group Training

The large-group classes (“Plyo Burn” and “Total Body Burnout”) that we offer are still intimate enough (12 people max) to ensure that proper instruction and attention is paid to everyone in our classes. In these fun, functional, and fierce 45-min classes, everyone from intermediate to advanced fitness levels are welcome. Class times and format will rotate weekly to consistently offer variety in training style and flexibility with scheduling. Beginners are encouraged to take our “4×4” class prior to attending this class.


“E-30” Small Group

“E-30” Small Group

The “E” is for efficient, and that’s exactly what you’ll get. We feel it’s as efficient and effective a 30-min workout as anything you’ll find. Offered during lunch times, as well as a back-to-back option in the morning for those hardcore go-getters, it’s the perfect butt-kicking, pick-me-up class! This class is taught in a small-group format (4-5 people). Because of the intensity and speed of the class, it is best suited for intermediate and advanced fitness levels. We get after it…..and quickly!!!

Outdoor Bootcamp on the Hudson (April-November)

You’ll be sweating, your heart rate cranking, your muscles burning, and (hopefully) having a great time during VFit’s only outdoor bootcamp-style class. While this is a high-intensity class intended for intermediate and advanced fitness levels, modifications can easily be made to ensure that the level of intensity is just right for you. Come with friends, meet new ones, and enjoy one heck of a butt-kicking class!!! Classes are 45-mins in length and are held twice a week (depending on season) on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Classes range from 25-30 people.
